001 - [Action Post]

[Once he'd gotten over the initial shock of having a body of his own again, Roxas realized that it was surprisingly hard to see. Light being his element, he'd never had any trouble seeing in the dark before, but now his world was almost pitch black. He wondered, briefly, if he really was on his own now, but he couldn't sense Sora. This had to be somewhere, there just weren't any lights.]

[Failing any response, he started slowly forward, trying to feel his way.]

[He glances off uneasily.] How could they- know I'd be here? I wasn't even...

Your guess is as good as mine. Some people were lured into the house by letters, but others walked in after seeing it.

How many people are here?

Around forty to forty-five. Can't be exactly sure right now since the network is down.

What network?

[steelalchemy]

[Fishes his portable out of his pocket and shows it to Roxas.]

Some sort of communications network. It allows you to contact the other people in the house via text, audio, or video. It's probably also how whoever runs this place keeps tabs on everyone. There'll be one of these in your room.

[He peers at it, frowning.]

Never used that kind of stuff. [Roxas and technology are not friends.]

Neither had I before I came here, but it's pretty handy.

[Ed pockets the device. It'd taken him a good couple of days to figure out how to work it properly, though the finer points of the inner workings still eluded him.]

...I guess I'll give it a shot later.

[Ed nods, and then after a moment, he holds out the lantern.]

I know where some candles are.

[coolerthansora]

[He looks at Ed blankly for a moment.]

Oh, er... Lead the way?

[steelalchemy]

[Well, he meant to let Roxas have the lantern, but this works too.]

Back this way. They're in the kitchen.

[Turning around he heads back down the hallway.]

[Roxas follows, staying just within the circle of light and trying to look around as he goes.]

So does magic not work here?

[Ed shrugs.]

Depends what you call magic. Some weird stuff seems to happen here that has no scientific explanation.

I just- can't seem to use mine.

Well, I can't use my alchemy properly, and I think others are having trouble with their... magic, as well.

[Ed is still having issue with this whole MAGIC thing. IS NOT LOGICAL.]

[Roxas looks at him curiously, picking up on that and wondering what kind of world he comes from. But, that's not what he asks.]

What's alchemy?

[Ed wouldn't even know where to start describing his world.]

The science of manipulating and altering matter by using natural energy.

...... You mean like changing stuff into other stuff?

[steelalchemy]

To put it in simplest terms.

Simple's good when you've never heard of it.

It's mostly just studying the composition of something, taking it apart, and then putting it back together in a different way.

Well, I don't know how to do that.

Well I don't know anything about magic. We don't have it where I'm from.
